[http://www.uwmpost.com/misc/advertising.jsp UWM Post advertising section] , UWM Post. Retrieved on May 17, 2007.] The newspaper publishes 12,000 issues every Monday during the fall and spring semesters and is distributed both on-campus and in the Greater Milwaukee metropolitan area.

The UWM Post is the largest independent college weekly in Wisconsin.

A Historical Tradition

The UWM Post, in existence since 1915, is the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's unofficial campus newspaper and serves as the primary source of student news, collegiate athletics and on- and off- campus events and issues. Students and alumni read the UWM Post to stay in touch with UWM.

An independent student-run newspaper, the UWM Post is governed by a five-member Board of Directors elected by the staff membership. The Editor in Chief serves as chair by virtue of his or her position. The Board is responsible for financial solvency of the UWM Post, employment and management decisions and the overall daily operation of the UWM Post.

The UWM Post continues to serve as the primary on-campus opportunity for students in journalism, graphic design, marketing and business administration. In addition, the UWM Post is an active member of the community through sponsoring educational and social events, supporting non-profit organizations and serving our readership.

The UWM Post maintains national affiliations with U-Wire, the Associated Collegiate Press, the Student Press Law Center and the Society for Professional Journalists. It has won awards from the American Scholastic Press Association, Wisconsin Newspaper Association, and a Best of Show award from the Associated Collegiate Press. The UWM Post’s coverage on various events and issues is regularly cited in student and other publications.

Producing 12,000 copies each Monday during the fall and spring semesters, as well as one summer issue, the UWM Post is the largest student-run campus weekly in the state of Wisconsin. Seventy-five percent of the newspapers are distributed on the UWM campus, with the remaining newspapers disseminated to locations throughout the East Side, Riverwest, Downtown, Bay View and North Side neighborhoods. Copies are also distributed to area libraries, including Milwaukee’s Central Library.
