"Captain RibMan" is the name of an online comic strip created by John Sprengelmeyer and Rich Davis. It centers on the activities of a superhero, Captain RibMan, and is less about saving the world than it is about political commentary.

The main characters are Captain RibMan and Billy. Captain RibMan does, in fact, possess some superpowers, (such as flight) but spends quite a lot of time in his recliner in front of the television set. His cape (all superheroes have capes) is a checkered tablecloth. Billy is a young child whose function in the strip is generally to be a sounding-board. He is the stereotypical 'normal' kid, as opposed to the eccentric Captain RibMan, who is convinced that everything on TV is true. Sometimes also appearing in the strip is a female reporter, named Polly Current, who will occasionally interview Captain RibMan. Much like the Simpsons, it often featured guest appearances by celebrities like Fred Willard, Carmen Electra, Bender (Futurama), Sammy Sosa, Tony Hawk and Jerry Seinfeld.

Captain RibMan was chosen as the "Best Online Comic Strip – 2001" by Yahoo! Internet Life.

The wild success of the comic strip and advice column (syndicated by both Universal Press Syndicate and Tribune Media Services, appeared in over 150 newspapers nationwide) led to the 2003 launch of 'Captain Ribman's Meat Market', a bar/restaurant in Lawrence, Kansas. While the restaurant received rave reviews and boasted the hottest wait-staff in town, a local ordinance banning smoking pushed their clientele out of Lawrence and forced the restaurant out of business. These events marked the end of the strip and the Captain Ribman dynasty was in ruins.

The comic strip is no longer in distribution.
