Deeside Caledonia Pipe Band is based in and around Aberdeen in the North East of Scotland. The band was established in October 1995 and has gone from strength to strength.

Bit About the band

The band consists of members covering a wide range of ages and is split approximately 50/50 male and female members.

The band's musical interest maintains a great fellowship between members and this is considered[by whom?] to be the key to their continued success.

The band competes at several local and national Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA) competitions each year at Grade 3A level and has enjoyed several prizes at the majors in grade 3A.

The band is also keen to broaden its horizons and travels abroad to compete against some of the foreign competitors on their home turf. In recent years the band has travelled to Ireland, France, Belgium and Copenhagen.

After some personnel changes at the end of season 2007, the band is currently recruiting players to boost its ranks for the future. Notable changes made recently have been the addition of some more experienced drummers to boost the drum corps. The band is hoping that this will prove fruitful. Anyone wishing to join the band will find a link on the band's official website www.deesidecaledonia.com or alternatively find us on Facebook.

Recent Success

On February 11, 2007 the band successfully defended its titles in both Grade 3 and Grade 2 in the North of Scotland Quartets competition at St. Machar Academy. This was then followed up by winning Grade 3 and coming second in grade 2 at the NOS Mini Bands competition also held at St. Machar Academy.

2008/09/10 seen the addition of many new players throughout the band and the formation of a competing Grade 4A band in 2010.

The band won both the Scottish and Cowal championships in grade 3A in 2010, causing the band to be crowned Grade 3A champion of champions 2010. This upgraded the band to RSPBA grade 2 level, which they have been competing in from 2011 onwards.
