Bernadette Baraquio Hamada is an American journalist and
entertainer from the state ofHawaii . During the late 1990s and early 2000s, she was one of the fewFilipino American s fromPangasinan ontelevision featured on a regular basis in the state. Born and raised in Honolulu on the island ofOahu , Hamada graduated fromMoanalua High School in 1991. After a year atSeattle University , she returned to theHawaiian Islands to study at theUniversity of Hawaii at Manoa where she obtained a degree in broadcast journalism in 1996. After a short stint at a local news radio program Hamada was hired byKHON , the leading news station in the Honolulu market at the time. First a news assistant and later a producer, Hamada became the news anchor for the top rated morning news program in 1999. Hamada left KHON and married conservative radio talk show host Rick Hamada. She was later hired by the leading locally produced cable network in Hawaii, Oceanic 16, to host her own series of variety programs.Hamada is the sister of
Miss America 2001Angela Perez Baraquio . She has a twin sister, Therese Baraquio.External links
