Base end station

Base end station

Base end station is a structure built into a cliffside facing a body of water and used to triangulate positions of ships with other similar stations scattered throughout the area. [http://www.nps.gov/archive/muwo/mube/muir_overlook.htm] ] Once these base end stations establish ship positions coastal artillery may proceed to bombard those ships to prevent attacks upon coastal positions.

Base end stations no longer exist except as ruins subject to the attention of tour groups. One such example resides at Muir Beach Overlook.
