David Kmiecik

David Kmiecik is an American born sports anchor from the suburbs of Chicago, IL. He graduated from Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park, IL in the year 1999. While growing up, David was (and still is) a Chicago Cubs fan and a Green Bay Packers fan. He has openly admitted that he has a man crush on Packer quarterback Brett Favre. Kmiecik also has publicly admitted he will cry the day that Favre finally hangs it up.

After high school, Kmiecik continued his education at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. While at Marquette he studied Broadcast and Electronic Communication and Criminal and Law Studies. Kmiecik also became enamored with a new athlete working his way to superstardom. Dwyane Wade led the Marquette Golden Eagles to its first Final Four appearance since 1977 and David developed a special place in his heart for D-Wade. Even though both have left Marquette, Kmiecik still holds Wade in very high regard, and David would like to hope the fondness is mutual. In addition to being a student and basketball fan, David also interned with a Milwaukee television station. There, he gained great professional experience and a really cool Milwaukee Bucks satchel.

After leaving Milwaukee, David settled in at WQOW in Eau Claire, WI as a sports/news reporter. After being the Sports Overtime reporter Kmiecik was promoted to the Weekend Sports Anchor after Reid Sollberger left the station. He currently holds that position and works with Sports Director and Weeknight Anchor Bob Bradovich. In the summer of 2007 David was offered a similar position at WMTV in Madison, Wisconsin, which he accepted. In July 2007, David left Eau Claire and re-planted his roots in Madison. David lives alone, in a cold, one-room, solitary apartment on Madison’s north side. He spends his free time talking to his walls, and creating self-absorbed wikipedia pages about his favorite subject- himself…

He now primarily covers the University of Wisconsin Badgers sports teams including but not limited to: Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey.

David is also an avid fan of NBA and college basketball, fantasy football, flip-flops, Pete Andersen and the TV shows Lost, Friday Night Lights and 24.

Kmiecik enjoys using catch-phrases in both his personal and professional lives. The three that he uses most often are: "He Gone," "Homey" and "Keep it Real"
