Siamsinpawlpi

The Siamsinpawlpi or SSPP in short, is a students’ welfare association, operating in India and abroad, wherever its members live. Initially it was established broadly as a “Student’s Welfare Association”, covering all students who were interested in becoming members of the association. However, at the present it is a “Paite Students’ Welfare Association” catering, but not limited to the needs and well being of Paite Students. The Siamsinpawlpi is formed on the principle of philanthropy and volunteerism. The SSPP has its General Headquarters at Bungmual, Lamka, PO Churachandpur, Manipur State, India. The Headquarters Office and the Joint Headquarters Offices are located in Aizawl, New Delhi and Shillong respectively.

Meaning of the name

The word Siamsinpawlpi is a self-explanatory term. Siamsin, literally means a student or any learner learning in School, College and University in pursuit of education in different fields of studies. But in a wider scope, the term is used to cover people from all walks of life so much so that it includes all people young and old, students and non-students, who take active part in the service of Siamsinpawlpi. So it has become a lifelong service. As the Mahatma rightly said, “Education begins at the cradle and ends at the coffin”. Education is a lifelong process and as such, most of the prominent leaders, scholars, officers, social workers and other respectable persons of the Paite Community are still active members of this association. The word pawl means Association or Society, whereas pi means great or big, and therefore, pawlpi signifies great society or association and such like working for the welfare of the people in general and the pupils in particular.
