Wellcome Trust when the Trust was turning its attention to "public engagement with science" and the first Chairperson of the MMV (Medicine for Malaria Venture) Board, was in 2007 appointed aCompanion of the Order of Australia , Australia’s highest distinguished service award, with the citation: “For service to science in the field of biomedical research, particularly related to veterinary and medical parasitology, and through support for research funding to improve global health."Since her retirement, Ogilvie has continued to play a significant role in public engagement with science and science in education. As both a trustee of the Science Museum and chair of the
AstraZeneca science teaching trust, she was also chair ofCOPUS , the former committee on the public understanding of science andTechniquest .In the 1996 New Year Honours List, Ogilvie was made a
Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire and in 2003 became aFellow of the Royal Society .Throughout her work, Ogilvie has stressed the need for science, industry and not-for-profit concerns to work together.
