Brian McBride (artist)

Brian Edward McBride (born 1970, Irving, Texas) is a musician best known as one half of the duo Stars of the Lid. He has also released a solo album, "When The Detail Lost Its Freedom", on Kranky Records using his own name. McBride moved to Austin, Texas in 1990 where he met Adam Wiltzie, forming Stars Of The Lid in the early '90s. He also worked with the now defunct Pilot Ships.

He currently lives in Los Angeles with his cats ("Ed" and "Nadine", presumably named after the characters in Twin Peaks, of which he is a fan) He is also an active member of the policy debate community, occasionally teaching at UT Austin. Life and Work

Brian is the Assistant Debate Coach at the University of Southern California.He joined the Trojan Debate Squad in 2006. A former debater at the University of Texas at Austin who enjoyed a great deal of success, including a Quarterfinalist finish at the 1993 NDT, Brian has emerged as one of the nation's finest coaches. Brian has played important roles with many successful teams, including Northwestern's 2003 NDT Champion and the 2004 Redlands NDT Quarterfinalist team.

Brian is currently completing his doctoral dissertation from Northwestern University. During the summer he directs the University of Texas National Institute of Forensics (UTNIF) summer debate camp.
