They had learned that it was for sale. Although they had thought about buying it, they decided not to.

Songs that Hoggard performed during Canadian Idol include:
* Audition: "Forever in Blue Jeans"
* Top 32: "Only the Good Die Young" (Billy Joel)
* Top 10: "Put Your Head on My Shoulder" (Paul Anka)
* Top 9: "Space Oddity" (David Bowie)
* Top 8: "Everything" (Lifehouse)
* Top 7: "Brick House" (Lionel Richie)
* Top 6: "Sundown" (Gordon Lightfoot)
* Top 5: "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" (Aerosmith)
* Top 4: "Straighten Up And Fly Right", "Unforgettable" (Nat King Cole)
* Top 3: "If You Don't Know Me By Now" (Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes), "I Want You To Want Me" (Cheap Trick)

When he returned after Canadian Idol, he and his former band mates decided to go their separate ways. A re-formed Hedley (with Hoggard the only original member retained) released their debut self-titled album in September 2005, "Famous Last Words" was released in October 2007.
