Coast Guard (TUGS)

Coast Guard (TUGS)

The Coast Guard is a vessel from the 1988 television series "TUGS" from the same producers of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends.

He is Bigg City Port's research and police boat. He had made numerous appearances, but had major speaking roles in the episodes "High Winds" and Quarantine.

His voice actor was British actor Lee Cornes. Lee also voiced Grampus, Billy Shoepack the Alligator tug (Who is the only Up River Tug he never met), and Boomer. He speaks with a neutral English accent.

In the buzz books, The Coast Guard was referred to The Customs Launch, and in the American spinoff to tugs, Salty's Lighthouse, The Coast Guard was renamed Cappy.

Coast Guard's Messenger

The Coast Guard had his own messenger who was rarely seen. He is a small speed/motor boat with a shrill whistle that sends messages for the Coast Guard. He made his first appearance in the pilot, and in this episode, he is shown next to the Fire Launch during the scene with Warrior towing The Duchess.

His voice actor was British puppeteer Don Austen.

The same model was also used for the mad speed boat that caused the accident in Quarantine.

He made his last appearance in 4th of July. In this episode, he was sent by the Coast Guard to take the message to the Star Tugs Pier that Lillie Lightship was sinking.

Since his head can't turn, it is confirmed that he and the Tramp-Steamers are the only boats in the series to be remote controlled like Lillie Lightship, Grampus, and most other model boats.
