Debuts

*January 21 – "The Fat Man" debuts on ABC.
*February 2 – "Twenty Questions" debuts on Mutual.
*March 30 – "Academy Award Theater" debuts on CBS.
*7 October – The first episode of the daily serial Dick Barton - Special Agent is transmitted in the BBC Light Programme.
*October 16 – "Philco Radio Time" starring Bing Crosby makes its debut on the ABC network, with Bob Hope appearing as Bing's first guest; the show is recorded using large wax transcription disks. In 1947, the Crosby show would introduce taped broadcasting to primetime network radio.
