The station carried out a full month of test transmissions before launching at 6 a.m. on
1 August 2007 . The first voice heard on air was that of Steve Jordan who then introduced Programme Director Tim Jibson. The station was then officially launched by Chairman Ian Blakey, he spoke about his love of radio and then played the first song which was "Twist and Shout " byThe Beatles .Branding

Controversy
During the station's last RSL trail broadcast as "KC107.3", local
newspaper theHull Daily Mail complained to industry regulator OFCOM claiming that news bulletins were lifted from them without their permission [http://www.holdthefrontpage.co.uk/news/2005/05may/050504war.shtml] .
