Stafford Northcote, 4th Earl of Iddesleigh

Stafford Northcote, 4th Earl of Iddesleigh

Stafford Henry Northcote, 4th Earl of Iddesleigh (14 July 1932 – 8 July 2004) was a British member of the House of Lords.

He was the only child of Sir Henry Stafford Northcote, 3rd Earl of Iddesleigh (1901-1970) and his wife Elizabeth Susan Angela Mary Lowndes, and the grandson of the Reverend John Stafford Northcote, a younger son of Stafford Henry Northcote, 1st Earl of Iddesleigh (1818-1887).

Educated at Downside School, Northcote succeeded his father in 1970 as Earl of Iddesleigh, Viscount St Cyres (created 1885) and as a baronet (created in 1641 for his ancestor Sir John Northcote).

Northcote married Maria Luisa Alvarez-Builla y Urquijo, daughter of Don Gonzales Alvarez-Builla y Alvera and Maria Luisa de Urquijo, on 20 July 1955. They had two children, John Stafford Northcote, 5th Earl of Iddesleigh (born 1957) and Lady Mary Louise Northcote (born 1959).
