1998–99 in Dutch football

The 1998/1999 season in Dutch football was the 43rd season in the Eredivisie, where Feyenoord Rotterdam claimed the title, for the first time since 1993. Ajax Amsterdam won the Dutch National Cup.

Johan Cruijff-schaal

Since 1991 the annual opening of the new football (soccer) season is played between the reigning champions and the Cup Winners of the previous season. The Cup was named PTT Telecom Cup for three years (1991-1993), then Super Cup and since 1996 the trophy played for is officially called the "Johan Cruijff Schaal", named after Dutch football legend Johan Cruijff.
