African American boxing promoter when she bought the site with Carol P. Ray and Carol M.A. Whitaker. Since 2002 the venue has showcased boxers including Eddie Chambers,Bert Cooper ,Darroll Wilson ,Imamu Mayfield , andIvan Robinson . In 2008, Ms. Michael was named one of Top 50 Women in Business in the State of Pennsylvania by GovernorEd Rendell . Michael has worked to make the building a cultural center for the surrounding neighborhood by creating a learning center with connections toTemple University and theUniversity of Pennsylvania and a Philadelphia Boxing Museum. The venue also hosts special events, meetings, receptions, weddings, and cabarets. OnOctober 18 , 2007, Michael confirmed that the building was up for sale as a result of financial troubles.References
