Pierluigi Giombini (born
December 11 ,1956 inRome ) was born in afamily ofmusician s: his father Marcello Giombini was acomposer ofsecular music and film music as well as being interested inelectronic music . His grandfather was a music professor specialized in theOboe who also played inorchestra s. Giombini therefore had been introduced at an early age to the classics and progressed to studypiano and composition at theconservatory . While he was studyingclassical music at the Conservatory in Rome, he also listened to 70sprogressive rock groups,Emerson, Lake & Palmer in particular andWendy Carlos . It was Wendy Carlos' 'Switched-On Bach ' records that inspired him to study and create thesynth sounds that he later used on his hit records in the 80s. Even now he still uses hardware and software synths for his current projects such as "WEB".He wrote,
