It is the only high school in the Southern Local School District. Their nickname is the Falcons, and their school colors are purple, white, and black. Southern Local School District was formed in 1961 with the consolidation of Corning, Shawnee and New Straitsville School Districts. Miller High School, named after Drs. Bob and Jim Miller, opened in January 1964. In 1993, a new building project created Miller Middle and Milcreek Elementary on the same site as Miller High School bringing the entire campus under one roof.

Athletics
The Falcons belong to the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) and the Tri-Valley Conference, a 16-member athletic conference located in southeastern Ohio. The conference is divided into two divisions based on school size. The Ohio Division features the larger schools and the Hocking Division features the smaller schools.
