"Whenever We Wanted" is John Mellencamp's eleventh album, and the first to be credited simply to Mellencamp's given name (i.e., without the "Cougar" name).

The album includes the mainstream rock hits "Get A Leg Up," "Now More Than Ever", "Love And Happiness", and "Last Chance".
