Jedikiah is a fictional character from the British television series "The Tomorrow People". Jedikiah first appeared in the episode serial "The Slaves of Jedikiah", and later appeared in the serials "The Medusa Strain" and "The Revenge of Jedikiah." Jedikiah was initially played by British actor Francis de Wolff, but the role has also been played by Roger Bizley and other actors.

Character summary

Jedikiah is a shape-changing robot, initially seen (in "The Slaves of Jedikiah") in the service of the "Cyclops" (his true name is Ranesh.), who uses Jedikiah to capture the Tomorrow People in an effort to use their psi powers to enable the Cyclops' damaged ship to return home. By the end of the serial, Jedikiah had been damaged and jettisoned into space. By the time he is recovered (in "The Medusa Strain"), 500 years had passed, and the damage caused to Jedikiah in the previous story, coupled with this long isolation, had driven the robot insane, possessing a pathological hatred of the Tomorrow People. He has since devoted his existence to their destruction.

Other appearances

Besides his appearance in the original television series, Jedikiah also makes an appearance in the Big Finish audio play "The Lords of Forever," and is later revealed as the mastermind behind many of the events of the final stories before the audio series ceased production on a cliffhanger ending.

Powers and abilities

Jedikiah is a shape-changer, able to assume the forms of others, mimicking their appearance and voice completely. It is not known if Jedikiah is limited to only assuming forms of comparable size and mass to his original robotic form, but all the forms Jedikiah is seen to assume in the television series are roughly humanoid. Jedikiah is also capable of constructing technology to nullify the Tomorrow People's psi powers, making him an even more formidable threat.
