Melanie Gabriel

Melanie Gabriel (born 1976) is the second daughter of recording artist Peter Gabriel and his then-wife Jill Moore. Early in her childhood, she was one of the extras in her father's music video for "Sledgehammer". She joined her father as a singer on his Growing Up tours from 2002 to 2004. As well as studying photography and painting, Melanie recently began to pursue a musical career, collaborating with artists such as Joy Askew and French producer Hector Zazou (on the song "Mmmh" from Zazou's album "Strong Currents") in addition to writing her own material. In 1999, she co-wrote the song "Broken Line" for the album "Refuge: A benefit for the people of Kosovo".

Melanie has recently embarked on an ambitious musical journey, "Taïga Maya", with the expert help of Belgian producer/composer Thierry Van Roy [ [http://users.skynet.be/sky77600/blackslavics/Black%20Slavics%20angl.htm Thierry Van Roy] ] .They premiered their show at WOMAD, on November 11, 2006, in Las Palmas (Canary Islands) [ [http://womad.org/?artist_id=2165 WOMAD Canarias 2006] ] .
