Melanie Gabriel (born
1976 ) is the second daughter of recording artistPeter Gabriel and his then-wife Jill Moore. Early in her childhood, she was one of the extras in her father's music video for "Sledgehammer". She joined her father as a singer on his Growing Up tours from2002 to2004 . As well as studying photography and painting, Melanie recently began to pursue a musical career, collaborating with artists such asJoy Askew and French producerHector Zazou (on the song "Mmmh" from Zazou's album "Strong Currents") in addition to writing her own material. In1999 , she co-wrote the song "Broken Line" for the album "Refuge: A benefit for the people of Kosovo".Melanie has recently embarked on an ambitious musical journey, "Taïga Maya", with the expert help of Belgian producer/composer Thierry Van Roy [ [http://users.skynet.be/sky77600/blackslavics/Black%20Slavics%20angl.htm Thierry Van Roy] ] .They premiered their show at WOMAD, on November 11, 2006, in Las Palmas (Canary Islands) [ [http://womad.org/?artist_id=2165 WOMAD Canarias 2006] ] .
