state highway in Wasatch and Summit Counties in theU.S. state ofUtah . It runs for 29.053 miles (46.756 km) from US-40 and US-189 north of Heber City to I-80 near Wanship.Route description
Heber City to Francis
SR-32 begins running north from the US-40/189 junction. It curves west to run along the southern edge of the
Jordanelle Reservoir and provide access toJordanelle State Park . It continues west to cross into Summit County and meets the western terminus of SR-35 in Francis.Francis to Wanship
In Francis, it turns more northerly and crosses SR-150 near Kamas. SR-32 runs through Marion and runs parallel to the
Weber River between Oakley and Peoa. The route then travels along the western side of Rockport Lake andRockport State Park before ending about one mile past an interchange with I-80 in Wanship.History
The road from Kamas to Wanship was added to the state highway system in 1910, as part of the main highway from Salt Lake City to Echo. A branch from Kamas south to Francis and then southeast through Woodland was added in 1914,

[cite UTSR law|year=1927|quote=35. From Wanship Summit county, via Peoa Kamas and Stockmore to Tabiona Duchesne county.] State Route 151 was created in 1933 as a connection from SR-6 (US-40) at Hailstone (now under theJordanelle Reservoir ) to SR-35 at Woodland, [cite UTSR law|year=1933|chapter=30|quote=(151) From Hailstone to Woodland.] and in 1935 a short spur of SR-151 to SR-35 in Francis became State Route 89. [cite UTSR law|year=1935|quote=Route 89. From Francis on route 35 to the Provo River road called the "Driscoll Dugway."] SR-151's east end was moved to Francis in 1953, absorbing SR-89. [cite UTSR law|year=1953|quote=Route 151. From Hailstone on route 6 easterly to Francis on route 35.]When US-189 was created in 1938, it overlapped US-40 between Heber and Kimball Junction,Fact|date=June 2008 but it was soon modified to leave US-40 at Hailstone and follow SR-151, SR-89, and SR-35 (now all SR-32) through Kamas to Wanship.
Rand McNally [http://www.broermapsonline.org/members/NorthAmerica/UnitedStates/NorthernRockies/randmcnally_ra_1946_015.html Auto Road Atlas] , 1946] For a time, US-189 was moved back to the 1938 routing, with US-189 Alternate on the Kamas route,Utah State Road Commission (Rand McNally ), Utah Official Highway Map, 1956] but by the 1977 renumbering it was back in Kamas, and the SR-151 and SR-35 designations were dropped in favor of US-189 (the latter only north of Francis). TheUtah Department of Transportation built a relocation of US-40 in the late 1980s to get it out of the valley that would be filled by theJordanelle Reservoir , and moved US-189 to a new roadway west of Kamas (now SR-248). What would remain of the old US-189 between Hailstone and Francis became acounty road , along with a new connection to US-40 south of the reservoir. Rather than extend SR-35 north from Francis to Kamas, the state renumbered it as a new State Route 32, stretching from US-189 in Kamas to SR-87 north of Duchesne (where SR-35 had ended). However, Summit and Wasatch Counties did not wish to maintain the roadway west from Francis, and theFederal Highway Administration pointed out that the realignment of US-189 would take it out of the way by more than 15 miles (24 km), so in 1990 the change was partially reversed and modified. SR-35 was restored to its pre-1989 alignment (Francis to north of Duchesne), US-189 was moved to overlap US-40 all the way to Silver Creek Junction, and SR-32 replaced former US-189 north of Kamas, as well as the county road to US-40 south of the reservoir. The road that had been built as a realignment of US-189, from US-40 north of the reservoir to Kamas, instead became an extension of SR-248. At the same time, portions of SR-190, SR-220, and SR-224 were given to Wasatch County to maintain, resulting in an approximately equal mileage swap.Utah Department of Transportation , [http://www.udot.utah.gov/main/f?p=100:pg:5285268476414239680:::1:T,V:1348, Highway Resolutions] : PDFlink|1= [http://www.udot.utah.gov/main/uconowner.gf?n=200609131103141 Route 32] |2=15.0 MB, updated October 2007, accessed May 2008]Utah Department of Transportation , [http://www.udot.utah.gov/main/f?p=100:pg:5285268476414239680:::1:T,V:1348, Highway Resolutions] : PDFlink|1= [http://www.udot.utah.gov/main/uconowner.gf?n=200609121729253 Route 189] |2=20.5 MB, updated November 2007, accessed May 2008]Major intersections
