Situations which cause
emotional conflicts can be every day occurrences which might seem at the time unimportant; as in the case of having to decide whether or not to accept an invitation to dinner, where a person we don't like or wish to see is likely to be, but where another family member whom we do wish to see is likely to be as well, or when there is anunderlying anger against a friend or a family member that we are unable or afraid to express forfear ofhurt ing theirfeelings , and therefore repress, or when we are doing something we don't like andresent having to do.Fact|date=September 2007Symptoms
These inner emotional conflicts can sometimes result in physical
discomfort orpain , often in the form oftension headaches , the duration of which can range from a few minutes to days and in some cases even months, but would normally be a few hours. The pain associated withTension headaches is normally mild to moderate, but can be severe.Fact|date=September 2007Possible remedy
Physical
discomfort orpain without apparentcause is the way ourbody is telling us of an underlyingemotional turmoil andanxiety . One way of dealing with such physicalmanifestation s is by becomingaware of the real lifeconflict thattrigger ed them. While it is not easy, and at times might even seem impossible, by relaxing, calming down, and trying to find out what recent experience or event could have been the cause of our inner conflict, by bringing these underlyingconflict to ourawareness , by rationally looking at and dealing with the conflicting desires andneed s, a gradual dissipation andrelief of thepain is possible.Fact|date=September 2007Further reading
