Al-Hashemi-II

The Kuwaiti ship Al-Hashemi-II is a very large dhow that sits next to the Radisson SAS Hotel in Kuwait. The "Al-Hashemi-II" is advertised as the "World's Largest Wooden Ship". The "Al-Hashemi-II" has a length of 83.7 meters (274.6 feet). Its bow is 18.5 meters wide. The "Al-Hashemi-II" sits on 6,000 square meters of land resulting from an ocean reclamation project. "Al-Hashemi-II" has been commissioned and engineered by "Abdulhussain Mohammed-Rafie Marafie".

The construction planning of the "Al-Hashemi-II" started in 1985, and actual construction began in 1997. The construction of the ship cost more than 30 million dollars through 2001. It is used as a museum and restaurant and will never be put to sea.
