- US Pro Golf Tour
The US Pro Golf Tour is a developmental men's
professional golf tour in the United States owned byGreens Worldwide Incorporated . The USPGT features more than 300 talented young professional golfers representing 34 states and 12 countries. The Tour delivers a “Big Tour” experience for players and spectators by providing first class amenities, including skybox and grandstand seating, scoreboards, celebrity pro-ams and corporate hospitality. The U.S. Pro Golf Tour has been seen on national and international television though its broadcast relationships with The Golf Channel, ESPN and FOX Sports Net. In addition to its Championships, the Tour intends to develop a regional tour system. In 2009, the USPGT will play for a total purse of $4.425 Million, featuring three events with $1 Million purses. The 2009 schedule, purses and formats of competition were developed after evaluating several different potential structures for the 2009 Tour.
In 2006, the USPGT awarded more than $5 Million in prize money and signed a strategic partnership with Donald Trump; competing in the Trump Million Dollar Invitational, a Major Championship of the USPGT in 2006. The U.S. Pro Golf Tour has been televised nationally and internationally on ESPN, FOX Sports Net and The Golf Channel.
The 2009 USPGT Championships are designed to maximize the potential for player earnings, limit weekly expenses for the Tour and the players, give more opportunities for more players to make money by paying deeper into the field, earn substantial cash bonuses and allow scheduling so players can play a full schedule on a mini-tour of their choice with minimum conflict issues. The Tour will expand the schedule for 2010, but in general, USPGT events will have large purses and fewer events on its schedule. 2010 will also bring the regional system development into play and USPGT anticipates that Players will be able to compete at a regional level for lower than normal mini tour entry fees and costs, with access to the larger purse events of the USPGT.
The USPGT plans to re-launch the Tour in 2009.
