Pepero

Pepero

Pepero (빼빼로) is a cookie stick, dipped in chocolate syrup, manufactured by Lotte in South Korea since 1983, and is similar to the Japanese chocolate-covered snack food, Pocky, which was first sold in 1966.

As of 2007, it was sold in 10 different flavors:
*Regular
*Strawberry-flavored
*Almond Chocolate
*Nude (chocolate in the center)
*Nude Lemon Cheese
*Cocoa
*Soft
*Cheese
*"Woman in White" and "Man in Black" are slightly more "classy" brands of Pepero, and both have chocolate cookie bits scattered throughout the chocolate dip.
*Topic, a style similar to Japanese Toppo, also manufactured by Lotte.

Pepero Day

Pepero Day is a marketing idea invented by the makers of the popular snack. On this day, people buy boxes of Pepero to give to their lovers, teachers, classmates, coworkers, and pets. The date was chosen because November is the eleventh month of the year. The numerical date for November 11th (11/11) resembles four Pepero sticks. Shop windows are decorated with hearts and "Give Pepero to the special people in your life" signs.
