Kefalonia Island International Airport airport codes|EFL|LGKF is an airport on Kefalonia Island, Greece.

The airport was built in the late 1970s. Before that, the only way to reach Kefalonia was by ferryboat.

The airport was originally much smaller, and only served propeller planes. The first airline to fly there was Olympic, the state-owned airline. At first, baggage was moved from airplane to terminal by a wheeled cart pulled by a donkey. The terminal was a single, one-room building.

The airport has been enlarged and expanded several times since then. However the airport is still extemely small and struggles, especially in the summer when there are several planes in the airport at once. They tend to get you on the plane as soon as possible and you wait on the plane for about 1/2 hour. The plane almosts acts as a second departure lounge!
