- Burlington Liars' Club
The Burlington Liars' Club is an organization that awards the title "World Champion Liar" annually. The club, located in
Burlington, Wisconsin , has been bestowing the award since 1929 when two enterprising freelance reporters made up a story about handing out a medal for the year’s best lie and sent it out for publication. Otis Hulett and Manuel Hahn fabricated a news story about a lying contest between the Burlington police and fire departments in which the winner was the police chief, who denied ever telling a lie. Hulett closed the club in 1979, and theBurlington Area Chamber of Commerce revived it the next year. [cite web |url=http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/12/29/D8MAPH581.html |title=Wis.
