Harry Glicken (1958 – 1991, nickname "The Glick") was avolcanologist who was killed on3 June 1991 by apyroclastic flow onMount Unzen inJapan . Also killed were forty-two otherscientist s andjournalist s, including volcanologistsKatia and Maurice Krafft .Glicken was scheduled to observe Mount St. Helens on
18 May 1980 ; however, he had to take the day off to attend an interview in a college inCalifornia . His replacement,David A. Johnston , was killed by the eruption of Mount St. Helens.References
