Karl Kroeber (born 1926) is a literary scholar, perhaps known best as a writer on American Indian literature. He is the son of the anthropologist
Alfred L. Kroeber and Theodora Kroeber Quinn. His most recent book is an account of his father's famous work withIshi , "Ishi in Three Centuries"He is professor of English and comparative literature at
Columbia University . His many books on literary criticism and its relation to ecology, traditional literature, and art history, are widely held in many hundreds of academic libraries.He is also a brother of the science-fiction writer
Ursula K. LeGuin and father of the linguistPaul Kroeber , journalist and consultant on the Chinese economy Arthur Kroeber, and writer Katharine Kroeber Wiley.Publications
