Pakistan won the test series 1-0, winning the first test by an innings and 188 runs, and drawing the last two matches.
The first test was played at the National Stadium in
Karachi onSeptember 15 1988 . The second test was played at theIqbal Stadium inFaisalabad onSeptember 23 1988 . The third test was played at theGaddafi Stadium inLahore onOctober 7 1988 .In the first test,
Javed Miandad scored 211, whileIqbal Qasim took 9 wickets. In the second test, Ijaz Ahmed andJaved Miandad scored 122 and 107 for Pakistan, whileAllan Border socred 113 for Australia.One Day Internationals
Pakistan won the ODI series 1-0. The first match, scheduled for
September 30 1988 , at the Jinnah Stadium inGujranwala was abandoned due to the ground flooding. The second match, originally scheduled to be played at the National Stadium inKarachi onOctober 14 1988 was rescheduled to be played atGaddafi Stadium inLahore , due to riots in Karachi. The third one day match, scheduled to be played atNiaz Stadium in Hyderabad onOctober 15 1988 was abandoned as well due to riots.The only one day match to be played resulted in a tied game, with both teams scoring 229 in the 45 over match. However, since Australia lost 3 more wickets (10 to 7), Pakistan was declared winners of the match.

Australia also played three 3-day first class tour matches against BCCP Patron's XI at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on
September 5 1988 , Baluchistan Governor's XI at theAyub National Stadium inQuetta onSeptember 9 1988 and against North West Frontier Province Governor's XI at theArbab Niaz Stadium inPeshawar onOctober 2 1988 .All three matches were drawn.
