Desk Ball

Desk Ball

Desk Ball is a game that involves playing a version of Table Tennis using only two desks and a tennis ball.

Origins

Desk Ball was created in 2006 by the Hebron High School Debate team in Carrollton, Texas. What started out as bouncing a ball back and forth to one another off the tops of desks quickly transformed into a distinct game with a growing number of enthusiasts.

All that is needed is a tennis ball and 2 desks. For variants, other supplies might be needed.

Open Source Sport

Desk Ball is an Open Source with Some Rights Reserved under Creative Commons Law. This means that Desk Ball does not have any definite rules, but it has a set of guidelines as seen below.

How to Play

Set the 2 desks opposite of each other about 1.5 meters apart. You are not required to sit in the chair.

A person serves the ball. The ball must bounce on both his own desk and the opponents desk. The receiver must catch the ball. If he catches the ball, he will serve it back in the same manner. It will go back and forth like this. If the person who first served the ball messes up, then the opponent will have control of the ball. If the opponent messes up, then the server gets 1 point and serves again.

A regular game is usually about first to 10 points, but people play with whatever point system is convenient.
