Anne Rigney

Anne Rigney, formerly Anne Rigney Lally, is an Irish Artist and Sculptor. Her work is mainly abstract, using oils and mixed media.

She is a graduate of Athlone Institute of Technology, where she studied art and design. She is a co-founder of the professional art group Working Artists Roscommon (W.A.R.), and is also a member of The Association of Artists in Ireland.

Her work is influenced by her surroundings of the rural Irish midlands where she lives and by her life experiences.

She has had many solo and group exhibitions, both in Ireland and internationally. Her works have been exhibited at The Kenny Gallery in Galway, The [http://www.dyehouse-gallery.com Dyehouse Gallery] in Waterford, The [http://www.wexfordartscentre.ie Wexford Arts Centre] , The [http://www.mullingarartscentre.ie Mullingar Arts Centre] , and the Embassy of the United States in Dublin. She has also exhibited in Scotland, Poland and Germany, and her many of her works are held in public collections, such as at Athlone Institute of Technology, Roscommon County Council, The Office of Public Works, and Irish Distillers. Exhibitions of her works have been opened by Mary O'Rourke, John Waters, and Kieran Meagher, head of Art & Design at Limerick Institute of Technology.

She has received several Arts Council awards, including a residency at The Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Artist in Schools, and Artist in the Community. She has also received the travel award for Cultural Events in Krakow.

Reviewer Ian Wieczorek wrote about her in The Irish TimesFact|date=April 2007, "in the abstract Anne Rigney produces striking and provoking works".

Originally from Mount Temple, near Moate, County Westmeath, she now works from her studio at her home in Knockcroghery, County Roscommon.
