University of Chicago Folklore Society

The 'University of Chicago Folklore Society' was founded in 1961 for fans of roots music at the University of Chicago, the Hyde Park neighborhood, and the rest of the Chicago area.

Their main focus in planning the annual Folk Festival, held from a Friday to a Saturday every February. It has happened every year since 1961, and has featured such musicians as Doc Watson, Ralph Stanley and Roscoe Holcomb.
