Lucie Brock-Broido (born
22 May 1956 inPittsburgh, PA ) is the author of three collections of poetry. She has received many honors, including the Witter-Bynner prize of Poetry from theAmerican Academy of Arts and Letters , theHarvard Phi Beta Kappa Teaching Award, the Harvard-Danforth Award for Distinction in Teaching, the Jerome J. Shestack Poetry Prize fromAmerican Poetry Review , twoNational Endowment for the Arts fellowships, and aGuggenheim fellowship . She was described as anElliptical Poet by criticStephen Burt .Lucie has long blonde hair and has an unusual affinity for horses and large cats, specifically, Maine Coon cats. She smokes True Blue cigarettes and is a restless thinker.
Brock-Broido is currently Director of Poetry in the Writing Division at
