- Red Warrior
Red Warrior, also known as Tushka-homa, is a
martial art created byAdrian Roman . [http://www.blackbeltmag.com/document_display.cfm?document_id=328 Red Warrior System]Black Belt Magazine article] Roman explored and documented the different types of weapons that were unique to the American Indian tribes of that erahuh and theory of their application;Fact|date=March 2008 however, there is a decent amount of controversy as to how "authentic" this fighting style is, as it is unclear how much of the martial art is truly derived from Native American techniques and sources and how much is from his previousKempo training. Though he firmly believed in and defends his system, this comparatively naive mistake raised questions as to if the style was adegreemill for martial arts. Roman took a long look at his critics' statements and has since taken great careto explain the reasoning behind his original distance learning format. He has also changed his entire approach, appealing to other martial arts teachers to join with him in a Native American Kenpo Association. His stated aim is to introduce/spread his system by seminars and other more traditional learning/teaching methods, still aided by videos, but clearly stating that "live" personal testing and valid demonstration of skill are necessary for achieving ranks. Application to join his group is now done (by those of teaching rank)by submitting credentials, a curriculum vitae, a video and personal interview.Adrian Roman has responded to critique as few martial arts' teachers have done; he has defended himself and also acted to change his approach, in order to show that he deeply believes in the system(s) he espouses.ee also
