Michael K. Allen (born December 4, 1955) is an American lawyer active in
Ohio Republican politics. From 1999 to 2005, he served as Prosecuting Attorney forHamilton County, Ohio .Allen is a native of Cincinnati, graduating from
Elder High School and theUniversity of Cincinnati . He received hisJ.D. fromOhio Northern University inAda, Ohio . Allen served as a police officer, prosecutor, and judge before being named chairman of the Hamilton County Republican Party in 1996. In 1999, when incumbentJoseph Deters was elected Ohio State Treasurer, Allen was appointed Hamilton County Prosecutor. Allen as prosecutor has pursued theRoman Catholic Church for the molestation of children by priests and pursuedpornography cases. He has been an outspoken conservative and active in politics.In August 2004, Allen announced he had a three and a half year adulterous affair with a lawyer on his staff, Rebecca Collins, one day before she filed a federal lawsuit charging sexual harassment. Amid the scandal, Allen resigned his post as Southwest Ohio chairman of
George W. Bush 's re-election campaign. In September, he withdrew from the November ballot--he had been running unopposed--but did not resign his office. He is now in private practice as a criminal defense attorney.
