volcanic field covering a total area of some Convert|40000|km2|sqmi|-3|abbr=on. This massive alkaline volcanic field extends from southernSyria , acrossJordan and into northwesternSaudi Arabia .Amongst others, the
Jabal ad Duruz ,Es Safa andDirat at Tulul volcanic fields form the northern, Syrian part of the Harrat Ash Shamah;Al Harrah is in the southern, Saudi Arabian third of the field.ources
