Thorpe, a University of Florida graduate, also works for Scouts, Inc.[1]
Thorpe got his start as a high school assistant coach then went into personal training in the early-to-mid 1990s, training some of Florida's top high schoolers. He started the Pro Training Center as his work began to include more collegiate and professional players.
His students over the past few years include; Udonis Haslem (Miami Heat), Kevin Martin (Houston Rockets), Luol Deng (Chicago Bulls), Tyrus Thomas (Charlotte Bobcats), Courtney Lee (Houston Rockets), Earl Clark (Phoenix Suns), Jrue Holiday (Philadelphia 76ers), DeJuan Blair (San Antonio Spurs), Rob Kurz (Chicago Bulls), Nick Calathes (Panathinaikos Athens, Greece), Daniel Santiago (Efes Pielsen, Turkey), Marc Salyers (Roanne, France), Corey Brewer (Minnesota Timberwolves), Joakim Noah (Chicago Bulls), Omri Casspi (Sacramento Kings), Yi Jianlian (Washington Wizards), Curtis Jerrells (San Antonio Spurs), Tony Gaffney (Boston Celtics), Reggie Williams (Golden State Warriors).
Residing in Clearwater, Thorpe is married (since 1990 to his wife, Christine) and the father of twins (named Max and Rachel). He also owns a viszla dog named Spalding. [2]
