The Long Branch Police Department (LBPD) is the primary law enforcement agency responsible for the city of Long Branch, NJ. It currently has 104 sworn officers, making it one of the largest police departments in Monmouth County. The Long Branch Police Department does not have a chief and is instead headed by a civilian with the title of Director of Public Safety, although the day to day operations are the responsibility of a captain. The current Director of Public Safety is William Richards. Organization

The Long Branch Police Department is made up of five divisions. The largest of these is the Patrol Division. The Patrol Commander is Captain Peter Antonucci. Some of the patrol divisions responsibilities are routine patrol, investigating crimes, apprehending offenders, investigating non-fatal traffic accidents and enforcing motor vehicle laws.

There are two Detective Bureaus. The Juvenile Detective Bureau is the smaller of the two and is led by Detective Sergeant Michael McGlennon. The Juvenile Detective Bureau investigates crimes committed by juveniles and crime that a juvenile is the victim of. The Long Branch Detective Bureau is led by Detective Captain Gilbert Horrach. The detectives are responsible for investigating crimes and interviewing suspects among other things. They do not deal with juveniles.Another division of the Long Branch Police Department is referred to as the Urban Enterprise Zone or UEZ. UEZ officers handle public relations with businesses located in the city and act as a liaison between the businesses and the police department. UEZ also handles quality of life issues and enforces applicable laws when necessary. The Traffic Division is headed by Lt. Nicholas Buccerio. The Traffic Division is responsible for reviewing accident reports, investigating serious and fatal traffic accidents and replacing damaged or worn traffic signs and traffic lights among many other responsibilities.

The Long Branch Police Department also utilizes Class I and Class II Special Law Enforcement Officers during the summer months to handle the increase in traffic and population in the areas along the oceanfront.
