Harcum College

Harcum College is a junior college located in the Main Line Philadelphia-suburb of Bryn Mawr. It was founded by Edith Hatcher Harcum and her husband Marvin in 1915. The College continued as an all-girls school up until December 8, 2003, when the Board of Trustees voted to make Harcum a co-educational institution. Interestingly, however, Harcum had begun admitting male students in the 1970s; most of the early male students attended class in the evening and did not live on campus.

Today Harcum is a campus of nearly 900 students. It offers majors in Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Veterinary Technology, Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting, Interior Design, Fashion Design and Merchandising, Criminal Justice, to name a few.

Since admitting men the College has a robust athletics operation. Its new men's basketeball team went 20 - 11 in their first season (2005 - 2006), and won its regional championship in 2007 with a regular-season record of 30 - 2. It's women's basketball team have won nearly 80 games in its first three seasons, and has never lost a home contest. The school also offers intercollegiate athletics in women's volleyball and co-educational track and field (National Junior College Athletic Association, Division II, Region 19).
