Asit Krishna Mukherji (
1898 -March 21 ,1977 ) was aBengal iBrahmin with National Socialist convictions who published pro-Axis journals. In order to protect her fromdeportation orinternment , he married esoteric HitleristSavitri Devi in 1940.Mukherji attended the
University of London taking adoctorate inhistory . After graduating, he traveled in theSoviet Union . Unimpressed withMarxist materialism , he turned down several offers to work for communistnewspaper s back inIndia . He began, instead, to publish "The New Mercury " in collaboration with SriVinaya Datta . Openly proclaiming its support forNazi Germany andAryan racism , it expressed admiration for the race laws and Hellenic ideals. Mukherji recognised parallels between theThird Reich andHindu nationalism : common use of theswastika on the Nazi and pan-Hindu flag; themartial spirit of theMarathas ; the similarity of theHitler Youth andK.B. Hedgewar 'sRashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh boys; the challenging of British authority.In January of 1938, Mukherji met
Savitri Devi who was deeply impressed with his knowledge. They married onJune 9 ,1940 inCalcutta .After "
The New Mercury " was closed down by the British government, he began publishing "The Eastern Economist " in collaboration with theJapan ese legation from 1938-1941.Mukherji used his connections with
Subhash Chandra Bose and theJapan ese authorities to put them in contact with one another, thus facilitating the formation of theIndian National Army .After the war he made his living as an
astrologer and had his wife's books printed.Works
