- Heritage Highway
The Heritage Highway (also known as "Historic Highway") is an
Ontario tourist route that travels fromWindsor, Ontario all the way toGaspe, Quebec , along much of what was formerly Route 2 (present-day Route 132) and Highway 2. The Heritage Highway designation also continued along Highway 18 (Now Essex County Road 20), looping around the western end of Essex County, before heading back eastbound towardsLeamington, Ontario . It then would continue along Highway 3 toWainfleet, Ontario , before terminating atFort Erie, Ontario , with a spur heading back to Windsor along Essex CR 34. The trail is also concurrent with theLoyalist Parkway inEastern Ontario .The route also had a spur along Highway 11 to
North Bay, Ontario , where it would meet fellow Heritage Highway, Highway 17, which would travel fromSault Sainte Marie, Ontario toMontreal, Quebec .There are still a couple signs reminaing on the routes, with one sign in
Harrow, Ontario on CR 20. Until 1997, there were a few signs along former Highway 3 alignment Essex CR 34 around theCottam, Ontario andEssex, Ontario areas.To the top-right of this article is an older Heritage Highway logo. Other signs on the Heritage Highway are reversed in colours, with a white wheel and white lettering on a brown background.
