Catriona Grant

Catriona Grant is a founder member and former co-chair of the Scottish Socialist Party and the party's equalities spokesperson [ [http://www.scottishsocialistparty.org/swn/swn.html Socialist Womens Network] ] . She was instrumental in the split from the CWI international which established the SSP during the "Scottish Debate" of the late-90s [ [http://www.cpgb.org.uk/worker/361/sspsplit.html SSP leader calls for a split] ] [ [http://www.cpgb.org.uk/worker/367/ismleavescwi.htm ISM leaves CWI] ] .

She is the chair of the Edinburgh Old Town Community Council [http://news.scotsman.com/topics.cfm?tid=885&id=1856542006] and an active member of Save Our Old Town [http://www.eh8.org.uk] . She is also an active campaigner for abortion rights [http://www.redflag.org.uk/articles/isfive/is5abortion.html] against domestic violence and sexual exploitation [http://www.redflag.org.uk/frontline/twelve/12pro.html] .

In 2008, she was nominated as a "local heroine" in Scottish Women's Aid's national survey, conducted for international women's day.

She was one of several SSP members who gave evidence during the Sheridan libel trial, co-chairing the meeting of the 9th November, which became a pivotal point in the trial [ [http://politics.guardian.co.uk/scotland/story/0,,1827071,00.html Tommy a courtroom drama] ]

She works as Senior Social Worker in Edinburgh, and is one of the co-ordinators on the GIRFEC project.
