Ana Silvera is a London born singer-songwriter. Biography

Ana Silvera is operatically trained, and appeared with the English National Opera and also at the Royal Opera House when she was a teenager.In a previous incarnation, she also worked with Berlin-based producer Boris Blenn [cite web | url= http://www.kompaktkiste.de/spiritzone.htm| title = Wolf's Kompaktkiste |accessdate=2008-03-16]

Musical Style

Ana Silvera often writes through personas, sometimes historical or fictional , such as Biblical figure Salome, Heloise (of Heloise and Abelard fame) or Nadezhda Mandelstam [cite web | url= http://blogs.independent.co.uk/openhouse/2008/03/hope-against-ho.html| title = The Independent, Open House Book of the Week |accessdate=2008-03-16] , wife of Osip Mandelstam. Accordingly, her lyrics are quite literary in style, and she is therefore included in the new clutch of singers who cite literary sources and classical styles of playing as their primary reference points. Her voice ranges from very deep and jazzy to high and pure. She also plays piano and guitar.

Career

She is presently working with renowned producer Tony Platt. Until recently, she also played keyboard and sang backing vocals with alt-folk singer, Yo Zushi.

Ana Silvera also works with New York based Jeff Langston, bassist with Antony and the Johnsons.

Silvera has been played on local music stations, and recorded for BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
