Central Zoo Authority of India

The Central Zoo Authority of India (CZA) is a body of the government of India responsible for oversight of zoos.

The CZA was formed to bring Indian zoos to international standards; prior to the formation of CZA, many zoos were poorly managed, with unsuitable animal enclosures and little or no breeding records of animals, which caused inbreeding and hybridization (genetic pollution, as in one case where an Asiatic Lion cross-bred with an African lion).
