Shri Guru Gobind Singhji (SGGS) Institute of Engineering and Technology, Nanded (formerly known as SGGS college of Engineering and Technology) is an engineering colleges in Maharashtra, India. SGGS came into existence on December 10 1981. The institute is a government aided college funded by the Government of Maharashtra.

Academics

The college is affiliated to the Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded [http://www.srtmun.org/] . Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) and M. Tech courses are offered in 10 different disciplines.

Administration

SGGS Institute of Engineering and Technology is one of the few institutes to be offered total autonomy in Maharashtra – academic, financial and administrative.

Baba N. Kalyani Chairman of the $1.5 billion Kalyani Group (Bharat Forge being the flagship company) has recently taken over as the chairman of the governing board of SGGS.

Infrastructure

The college is spread over a sprawling campus of 46 acres, and is rapidly growing following funds from the World Bank and the State and Central Governments.

Student Life and culture

SGGS campus is situated in Vishnupuri at a distance of 8 km from Nanded city on State Highway No.78 (Nagpur to Tuljapur via Latur). Buses are run by the institute to different locations in Nanded city.

The institute has facilities for indoor and outdoor sports such as football, cricket, athletics, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, tennis, badminton, kho-kho and kabaddi. SGGS has a unique Boat-club(currently not in operation) nearly four km away from campus on the banks of the river Godavari. Various boats like Kayaks, Canoes, Rowing-Clinkered pair and Punts Aqua glide (Rubber boats) are available for the water sports enthusiasts.

Most labs are open 12 hours during the day and it is also a common sight to see students working in the labs at night. Dinner followed by a game of tennis and then a visit to the computer center is a routine many students follow.

The yearly cultural calendar comprises of multiple fun and festive events staged to coincide with Ganesh chaturthi, Kojagiri, Valentine's Day, Dandia, Chocolate Party etc.

For the academically inclined folks the institute organizes a national level technical event Pragyaa [http://pragyaa.sggsnanded.org/index.html] . Debates, quizzes and many other activities are held throughout the year.

Alumni

The most notable initiative to bring all alumni of SGGS under three umbrellas has been done by [http://www.sggspals.org/contributors.php a group of ex-students] . Alumni can register at the website listed below to connect with batch-mates and keep themselves informed of the latest happenings. The last alumni meet was held in March and is planned to be a five yearly event.
