Public corporations of the Government of Puerto Rico

In Puerto Rico, Public corporations are separate legal entities who are owned, either entirely or in great majority, by the Government of Puerto Rico. These corporations are created to serve a public service, such as electricity, water, public financing, education, transportation, and public lands real estate. Such corporations can be owned either by the state government of Puerto Rico or one of its 78 municipalities.

List of state-run public corporations in Puerto Rico

The following is list of public corporations owned by the state government of Puerto Rico. As of 2006, the state government of Puerto Rico had 47 major corporations:

* Puerto Rico National Guard Institutional Trust ("Fideicomiso Institucional de la Guardia Nacional de Puerto Rico" in Spanish)
* Business Training and Work Corporation ("Corporación de Empresas de Adiestramiento y Trabajo" in Spanish)
* Puerto Rico Credit Unions Supervision and Insurance Corporation ("Corporación para la Supervisión y Seguros de Cooperativas de Puerto Rico" (COSSEC) in Spanish), is similar in nature and authority to the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) in the U.S.
