Seamus Robinson (songwriter)

Seamus Robinson (aka Séamus Mac Roibín) is a songwriter and composer living in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was born in the Carrick Hill area of that city on the 22 December, 1939. Working in Irish or English, he has composed many patriotic ballads and folk-songs.

"Take Me Home To Mayo" aka "The Ballad Of Michael Gaughan" is perhaps the most famous and most travelled of his songs. It is sung all over the world and has become an Irish republican standard.

The children's anthem, "Mickey Marley's Roundabout", was written by Seamus to immortalise the legendary Belfast hobby-horse man who gave so much joy to generations of Belfastians.

Seamus Robinson is still writing and composing ballads and poetry.
