Jesse Ortiz is a golf club designer. Jesse originally designed clubs for Orlimar known as the "Tri-Metal Wood". He now designs clubs for the Bobby Jones line.
Orlimar started in the persimmon club business, and its woods were in use by famous golfers such as Johnny Miller, Tony Lema and Ken Venturi. Orlimar recently manufactured metal woods, and created quite a buzz with its "Tri-Metal wood", which was designed by Jesse Ortiz.
Orlimar was sold, and Jesse left the company. His expertise has recently been applied to metal wood design for the heirs of Bobby Jones.
Regarded as one of the premier golf club designers in the world, Jesse Ortiz has more than 35 years of golf industry experience. Starting as a club maker in 1968, Ortiz was instrumental in growing Orlimar Golf Company into a $100 million enterprise. Ortiz served in the capacity of Vice Chairman/Chief Designer of Orlimar. As a result, he has extensive experience in the management of research and development, production, quality control, distribution functions, advertising, publicity and media relations. During this period, Ortiz’s name became synonymous with woods and fairway metals due to his orchestration of one of the largest televised sales campaigns in golf history.
While at Orlimar, he designed and developed many successful products introduced by the company, including the TriMetal fairway metal line. This product line is considered to be among the most lucrative and innovative ever introduced in the golf industry. It was consistently ranked among the top fairway metals by professional PGA Tour and senior PGA Tour players in the Darrell Surveys. Before leaving Orlimar, Jesse introduced the critically acclaimed TriMetal HipTi Driver, which featured not only the thinnest conforming face in golf, but also the strongest and most rigid.
Most recently, Jesse’s Bobby Jones by Jesse Ortiz club line received heavy acclaim in Golf Digest’s 2006 Hot List. His drivers, fairway woods and utility clubs all collected high praise in the national publication.
In 1999, Jesse received the International Network of Golf Business Achievement Award and was recognized as the Entrepreneur of the Year for Northern California by Ernst & Young. He received his BS degree in Business Administration from the University of San Francisco.
